The ongoing quest to fill Christmas stockings with cheer continued today with a batch of soap scented with Angel Baby fragrance oil. I worked alone in the soap kitchen because Alison was having a fun day of her own fighting Atlanta traffic while juggling both Doctor and Dentist appointments for her two kids.
Once again, (see yesterdays blog post) the method I am using is CP, meaning before they are safe to use, this soap has to cure for 6 weeks - right about mid December (talk about cutting it close).
I flip-flopped all over the place regarding colors, finally deciding on white, pink, and brown to be mixed in a hanger swirl.
You can find these colors at +Natures Garden, +Bramble Berry and www.rusticescentuals.com.
I mixed each color with a TBSP of olive oil taken from the oil measured out for the recipe.
I added silk to the lye/water to give the soap lustre when it's cured.
This is 1 tsp TD mixed in the O/O,
then 1/4 tsp. Diamond Dust to give the white a little sparkle.
Here is the Toffeelicious Mica. At this point I hadn't seen how red it looks when cured, so I still think it's going to be a rich brown, the way it looks in the picture.
Here is the Blushed Pink Mica; it's so soft and pretty.
I love how the sparkle swirls in the mixture.
Colors are mixed!
Angel Baby is described as follows:
"a soft, sweet woody-floral fragrance with azalea, jasmine, lavender and rose notes underscored by patchouli and other precious woods with a hint of citrus and other fruits. Balsam and vanilla add rich sweetness."
This combination of scents is amazing. It is one of our favorites, and one that we will probably reorder so we can make a batch or two to sell. Yes, it's that good.
Here I am mixing the TD & Diamond Dust into the batter.
You can see it turning the batter white.
The Blushed Pink Mica is a soft pink color highlighted with sparkles.
And last, I mixed in the Toffeelicious Mica.
I started with uncolored batter, adding layers of each color, then repeated the layering two more times.
I tamped down the mixture, then inserted the hanger and swirled a few times.
The blobs on the top are what I wiped off of the "hanger", we don't waste a drop of the soap.
After the hanger swirling was complete, I added the remaining non colored batter then topped it off with the colored batter, then swirled the top.
So artistic!
Here is a picture of the cut soap taken indoors, we will take additional photos outdoors where the lighting is better.
So we officially love how this soap turned out.
With a hanger swirl you never know, this time we were lucky and it looks pretty. Next time we may not be so lucky.
CP soap scented with Angel Baby fragrance oil.
Cure date - December 17th
